HELP INDIA provides pre-school orientation to the under privileged children through “CONNECT PRE-SCHOOL” (CPS) that has the primary objective of imparting quality education and inculcating good family and moral values. Led by an administratrix, the pre-school is housed in a rented bungalow located near Socorro Panchayat, Porvorim, Bardez Goa. It conducts three classes – nursery, lower kindergarten and upper kindergarten – with a total strength of thirty four students. The teaching faculty consists of five teachers who also teach extra-curricular subjects. The administrative work is carried out by one of the teachers while the upkeep is handled by a part-time hand. The academic year runs from June to March; the teaching staff in the month of April prepare for the forthcoming academic year. Teaching development programmes are also held during the month of April.

The students except for two of them, pay less than 20% of the normal school fees, our desire being that every child be given an opportunity to study.

An admission fee of ₹ 1000 is charged for a new student, and the monthly fee is ₹ 1200. However, only two students pay the full fees and the rest pay between ₹ 150 to ₹ 1000 per month.  The fee subsidy is decided by the administratrix on a case to case basis on various parameters that include a visit to the student’s home to ascertain the general standard of living. Books given by the pre-school to the students are recovered at costs.
